The Alienist

I had the great pleasure of being Lead CG Supervisor on The Alienist.
My role as supervisor was to ensure the delivery of environmental assets and layouts for several areas of late 1800’s New York city that were to be used as backgrounds for the story line. This was a huge undertaking, having to build hundreds of CG assets from bridges and building to carriages, boats, and street furniture.

Working with a team of exceptionally talented artists to build and texture the assets, we were able to create layouts from the production plans to allow set extensions and fully CG shots to be rendered by both Peerless and various vendors involved in the project.

In addition to the supervision role, my primary CG responsibility was building the Williamsburg Bridge assets and the surrounding docklands area that was featured heavily in the first episode.

Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed Trailer

I had a chance to work on a couple of shots on Assassin’s Creed whilst at Double Negative. One of the more involved shots that I was responsible for (0:34) was part of the ‘Leap of faith’ sequence.

Given a base scene with layout elements, I had to extend and refine the camera move, and layout all market assets and surrounding building. Additional modelling and layout of the scaffolding around the cathedral was also required.

Once layout was complete, I laid out a lot of pre-simulated smoke elements, lit, and rendered the shot.
